What we collect when you use SpacesDown, why we collect it, and how to get rid of it.

The short version
- We ask for an e-mail address and nothing else to create an account - no password, no phone number.
- We store the Spaces you download so you can find them again, plus simple counters for your plan limits.
- We never sell your data and we do not run advertising trackers.
- Payments go straight to Stripe. Your card number never touches our servers.
- Ask us to delete your account and we delete it, along with your recordings.
Who we are
SpacesDown is a tool for recording, downloading and transcribing public Twitter/X Spaces. This policy covers the website at spacesdown.com and everything you can reach from it.

What we collect

We do not collect your card number, and we do not ask for a date of birth, an address or a phone number.
The recordings themselves
When you download a Space, we fetch the audio or video that Twitter/X publishes for it and store a copy so you can play and download it. That file is stored on DigitalOcean Spaces and served through our CDN.
A recording belongs to the account that created it. Other people cannot download, share, convert or take notes on your recordings, and if your plan does not include listening to other people's Spaces, you will not be able to play theirs either.
Spaces marked private are visible only to the account that downloaded them.
AI transcripts and summaries
If you ask for a transcript, chapters or a summary, the audio of that Space is processed by a speech-to-text and language model to produce the text. The result is stored against your account so the page loads instantly next time.
We do not use your recordings or transcripts to train our own models.
Who else sees anything
A short list, and all of them are service providers doing a specific job for us:

Beyond that: we do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. We will hand over data if a law or a valid legal order requires it, and we may share it if we have to defend ourselves or protect someone from harm.
How long we keep things
- Your account and your recordings - for as long as your account exists.
- Converted files, trimmed clips and generated videos - automatically deleted about six hours after they are created. Download them when they are ready.
- Sign-in codes - short-lived and single use.
- Billing records - kept as long as tax and accounting rules require, even after you close the account.
Cookies
We keep this boring. There are three kinds:
- A session cookie that keeps you signed in. Without it the site cannot work.
- A small preference for your language and your light/dark theme.
- A cookie set by Cloudflare to tell real visitors from bots.
No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking pixels, no data brokers.
Your choices
Whatever country you are in, you can ask us to:
- Show you what we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete your account and its recordings.
- Send you a copy of your data in a normal file format.
- Stop the marketing e-mails - the unsubscribe link is in every one of them. Service messages, such as "your download is ready", keep coming while your account is open.
E-mail [email protected] from the address on the account and we will act on it. If you are in the EEA or the UK you also have the right to complain to your national data-protection authority.
Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit. Access to the production database is restricted and passwordless sign-in means there is no password of yours for anyone to steal. No service can promise perfect security, but if we ever have a breach that affects you, we will tell you.
Children
SpacesDown is not for anyone under 13, and if you are under 16 in the EEA or the UK you need a parent or guardian to agree for you. If we find out we are holding a child's data, we delete it.
Where your data lives
Our servers and stored recordings are in the European Union (London region). Some of our providers, such as Stripe, operate internationally, so your data may be processed outside your own country under the standard safeguards those providers use.
Changes to this policy
If we change something that matters, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, e-mail you about it. Carrying on using SpacesDown after that means you accept the new version.
