Terms of Service

The rules for using SpacesDown. Plain English, no surprises.

Last updated: 26 July 2026

The short version

  • Use SpacesDown for public Spaces and respect the rights of whoever made them.
  • Your plan sets your monthly allowances. They reset on the 1st of each month.
  • Only the account that downloaded a Space can download, share, convert or annotate it.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. Cancel any time; you keep access to the end of the period you paid for.
  • Converted files, trims and generated videos are deleted about six hours after they are made.

1. The agreement

By creating an account or using SpacesDown you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. Where we say "we" or "us" we mean SpacesDown; "you" is the person or organisation using the account.

Our Privacy Policy is part of this agreement.

2. Your account

You need a working e-mail address. We sign you in with a one-time code rather than a password, so keep control of that mailbox - anyone who can read it can get into your account.

You must be at least 13 (16 in the EEA and the UK without a parent's consent). One person, one account. Do not share your account or resell access to it.

You are responsible for what happens under your account.

3. What SpacesDown does

SpacesDown records and downloads publicly available Twitter/X Spaces, and can transcribe, summarise, convert and clip them for you. We are an independent tool. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to X Corp. in any way, and "Twitter", "X" and "Spaces" belong to their owners.

We depend on what X publishes. If X changes how Spaces work, or takes one down, we may not be able to fetch it - that is outside our control.

4. How you may and may not use it

Do use SpacesDown for your own listening, research, accessibility, archiving, note-taking and content work, in line with the law where you live.

Do not:

  • Download or publish a Space you have no right to use - respect copyright, and get permission before you republish someone else's recording.
  • Use the service for anything unlawful, harassing, defamatory or invasive of someone's privacy.
  • Try to reach recordings that belong to another account, or bypass a plan limit, rate limit or paywall.
  • Scrape, hammer or automate against the service beyond normal use, or resell the output as your own service.
  • Break, probe or reverse-engineer the service, or interfere with anyone else's use of it.

You are responsible for having the right to record and use whatever you put through SpacesDown, and for complying with X's own terms.

5. Who owns what

The content of a Space belongs to whoever created it - not to us and not to you. Recording it does not transfer any rights.

The site, software and design are ours. Transcripts, summaries and clips generated from your recordings are yours to use, subject to the rights of the original speakers.

If you own a Space and want a copy removed from our service, e-mail [email protected] with the link and enough information to identify it, and we will take it down.

6. Plans and allowances

Each plan comes with monthly allowances - downloads, live recordings, AI transcripts, conversions, video minutes, follow slots, playback of other people's Spaces and so on. The current numbers are on the pricing page, and they are what applies.

  • Allowances reset at the start of each calendar month and do not roll over.
  • Some actions are limited by a short-term rate limit as well, to keep the service responsive for everyone.
  • Only the account that downloaded a Space may download, share, convert or take notes on it.
  • Listening to other people's Spaces needs a plan that includes it.
  • If your paid plan lapses, your account reverts to Free limits the day after it expires.

We may adjust what a plan includes. If a change reduces what you already pay for, we will tell you before it takes effect.

7. Payment, renewal and cancelling

Paid plans are billed in advance through Stripe. Prices are shown on the pricing page and may exclude tax depending on where you are.

  • Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period until you cancel.
  • You can cancel any time from your billing page. Cancelling stops the next charge - you keep your plan until the end of the period you have already paid for.
  • Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades take effect at the next renewal.
  • If a payment fails we may retry it and, if it keeps failing, move the account to Free.

Refunds. Payments are generally non-refundable, but we are reasonable: if something went genuinely wrong, or you were charged by mistake, write to [email protected] and we will sort it out. Where consumer law gives you a right to a refund, that right stands regardless of this paragraph.

8. Storage and deletion

  • Your recordings stay available while your account is open.
  • Converted files, trimmed clips and generated videos are deleted about six hours after they are created. Download them promptly.
  • We may remove content that breaks these terms, or that we are legally required to remove.

Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. SpacesDown is a tool, not a backup service.

9. Availability

We work to keep SpacesDown up, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. There will be maintenance, the occasional outage, and times when an upstream change at X breaks something until we fix it.

The service is provided "as is". We do not guarantee that a particular Space can be fetched, that a transcript is accurate, or that the service fits a particular purpose of yours.

10. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost data, or anything arising from how you use the recordings you make.

Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited - including fraud, or death or personal injury caused by negligence - and nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer.

11. Suspension and closing your account

You can close your account at any time by e-mailing us.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, abuses the service, or puts us or other users at risk. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put it right. If we close a paid account without cause, we refund the unused part of the period.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top of the page always shows the current version, and we will e-mail you about significant changes. Continuing to use SpacesDown after a change means you accept it.

13. Law and disputes

If we ever disagree, talk to us first - almost everything is fixed with an e-mail to [email protected]. If you are a consumer, the mandatory laws and courts of the country you live in apply.

If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.

14. Contact

Questions about these terms, a takedown request, or a billing problem: [email protected].
